Jewish Youth Philanthropy Institute TM

The Jewish Youth Philanthropy Institute TM (JYPI) brings together students from different schools and neighborhoods to create their own philanthropic fund. The 8th and 9th grade JYPI program meets monthly, October–May, to review grant proposals from diverse community agencies, make site visits, meet with staff and some of the individuals the agencies serve and to engage in experiential learning. Funding decisions are made as a group at the end of the program year. In addition, there is the 10th–12th grade program, which begins in January and will meet 5 times to engage in a similar process. “Youth Philanthropy groups are open to teens in Maryland, D.C. and Northern Virginia. JYPI also offers semi-monthly service learning programs on Sunday afternoons and several summer programs, which give teens a direct chance to make the world a better place while earning student service learning hours for school.” This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved, learn about your community, make a difference, and be heard.
